Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse of Central Texas is running an ad to stop frivolous lawsuits. The 60-second ad follows a lawyer as he waits for someone to trip and fall on an uneven sidewalk. While the lawyer sits, anxiously watching pedestrians walk by, the announcer details how these lawyers “clog the courts” and are only “interested in turning any opportunity into a windfall.” As a result of “these junk lawsuits,” we are forced to pay higher insurance rates and people with “real grievances” have more trouble getting their cases heard in court. At the end of the ad, the announcer tells the viewer to “stop lawsuit abuse — it’s costing you plenty.”
