Letter: Next, Sue the Energy Firms
Dallas Morning News
July 1, 2007
Smart personal injury lawyers are always looking for new ways to make a buck. They've padded their wallets going after deep-pocket industries, filing often-questionable suits over tobacco, pharmaceuticals, asbestos and even fast food.
As these moneymaking targets run their course, these lawyers, like big-game hunters, stalk new victims. Apparently, the next are the energy companies. Texas has been a leader in civil justice reforms. We must be vigilant to protect the reforms already passed and to continue to make sure our courts are used for justice, not greed.
