Poll Results: Economy, Lawsuits Strain Small Businesses
Project Lawsuit Abuse

The Institute for Legal Reform just released a new study that shows the very real concerns facing small business owners across the country. The results of the bipartisan poll were troubling – 78% of the small business owners polled said that “the U.S. economy will either remain stagnant or get worse over the next year.” Additionally, two-thirds of the respondents said that “the government is doing too much that is better left to businesses and individuals.”
As we’ve mentioned before, lawsuit abuse has been a detriment to small business owners in this country. While the situation has been particularly grim in certain states, the entire country has the negative effects of frivolous lawsuits. Here are some of the results of the study related to lawsuit abuse:
“Seventy eight percent say that if Congress passes laws allowing trial lawyers to bring more lawsuits, it would have a negative impact on the economic climate affecting their businesses. In addition, 92 percent say the poor economy has made it more difficult for their company to absorb the additional costs, time and other issues related to a lawsuit.”
